The only way to make a decision in favor of one or the other is to compare the nuances inherent in each. However, let’s start with what golf has in common between outdoor and indoor:

  • The basic principle is the same for both versions of golf: “make a good shot – have fun.”
  • The clubs and balls are familiar.
  • There is only one main rival: the course or the simulator.
  • Technique of hitting the ball is similar
  • Game and communication

Difference:

  • In the simulator, the ball after hitting, flying for 3-5 m, hits the screen. The continuation of the flight is demonstrated in a 3D copy of the real field. These meters are sufficient for an accurate calculation of the ball’s direction of flight.
  • In a golf simulator the shot is taken continuously from an artificial surface and as a result of the recalculation the software influences the flight of the ball. However, the principle of “playing against the course” is retained here.
  • The initial flight of the ball (3-5 m) takes place under virtually ideal conditions – no wind or rain. The program itself makes adjustments
  • Strokes in the simulator are usually taken from a flat surface. Only some stimulators have the ability to simulate (tilt) the field.

Simulator capabilities:
– A golf simulator will not replace playing in nature in many nuances, that is a fact. However, given that nature is not always benevolent, the simulator will come in handy. Moreover, after the shot you can contemplate high-quality HD pictures and almost believe in the reality of what you are seeing.

  • Simulator is golf wherever you want: at home, in the office and other places. There is no need to spend time on the road to the golf club and back, standing in traffic. Playing on the simulator involves hitting from the same spot, and the software moves you to the landing spot. At the same time, the pace of play increases: 45 min to an hour if you play 18 holes alone, rather than about 4-5 hours. Such time savings are expensive in today’s world. For example, South Korean fans have time to play 3-4 times a week. The numbers and results of Korean golfers speak for themselves.
  • The fact that you are dealing with the program opens up a lot of possibilities: you are able to see all the details of the contact of the club with the ball – the speed, angles, distance of the ball and more. You can also make a video of your shot and send it to an instructor for his comments.
  • You have a chance to play on virtual copies of different fields and the game will never be monotonous. Moreover, there are elite fields that are difficult and expensive to get on.
  • Playing on the simulator, you can be a participant in the tournament without leaving your home and without calling for guests. The program will record the results of your game, save and compare with other participants.

Considering the above, I want to summarize… Simulator, of course, will not give you the whole gamut of golf experience you get on the course, but as a convenient option to play more often and improve your skills – it’s a very good choice.
